Brian (Ivory) Sylvester started playing music at 13 yrs old playing drums with Buddy Shoop in their first musical adventure together.

His musical experience with the Junior High School Choir provided the impetus for him to branch from drums to guitar.

At age 20 he  joined his first band from Hyattsville called Future Steam and eventually found himself jamming with several other musicians in the area for awhile honing his guitar and vocal skills while gaining experience and confidence performing local shows.

Years later, he joined Purlz with the late great singer songwriter JC Caine. Along with  drummer Bobby Shade (who is heard on the new  mp3's and the soon to be released CD, "Rough Cut") & bassist Mike OConnors.

Originally formed as a cover band, they quickly converted to an original format with great success locally. With the addition of another guitarist, Benny Backover; a year and half later, began performing frequently in the Washington Metro area. The group eventually morphed into Shatter and then with Kick and remained a rock presence for over five years.

Brian was one of those brave few who served his country with several tours of duty in fighting the global war on terror. After serving his country with the US Army and duties as a Baltimore Police officer, he took a 20-year respite from the music scene.

Never far from his heart and mind; music was always there.

Once he finished with the military and Police, he picked up the guitar again and began jamming with local musicians and formed The Doubletake Band and eventually reunited with Buddy. He is now  working on their current project at this writing.

Bringing excitement, enthusiasm, and soulful energy to the stage, Ivory is having more fun than he has in years.
