The music on Buddy Ivory's CD "Rough Cut"is dedicated to the memory of a special artist and late great singer/songwriter J.C.Caine; who composed along with the original members of the group Purlz; Brian Ivory, Bobby, and Mike the following original songs: Change of Direction, Organ Grinder, Dime A Dozen, and Pretty Faces.
Performing in the Washington DC area this band was tearing it up for a while until like many groups; they went their separate ways but still remain friends.
It is so true that you never really appreciate someone until they are gone. I remember many times jamming with Jim and found myself taking for granted how gifted he was. He had a voice that got down to the roots of the song and could express the feeling of it that no one could impersonate. He was more than a musician; he was an artist, an actor, and musical illusionist. He could paint the song in your mind and drive it home to your very being. I wish, in retrospect; that I would have told him so when he was still with us.
Jim was a dynamic talent and wonderful human being and it is my hope to keep his legacy alive through the music.
